An inpatient drug rehab center allows patient to stay overnight in their facility for a pre-determined amount of time. The length of stay can be short term or long term. This type of drug rehabilitation is ideal for people who need around-the-clock care. These might be individuals that need to get away from untoward influences. Those that require structure and intensive care will likely do best in this type of facility. Some rehab treatment centers will administer drugs to help people slowly detox, rather then requiring them to go cold turkey. Individuals interested in this may need to be enrolled in an inpatient center where they can be monitored.

Inpatient drug rehab centers tend to be more expensive then outpatient. This is because the cost to care for someone who is in the facility 24 hours a day is much more expensive. Common costs include meals, room and board, counseling, classes and perhaps medication.

There are many benefits to enrolling in an inpatient drug rehab treatment center. We will discuss some of them below. However, we will first take a look at some of the disadvantages. The biggest one is cost. This form of rehab can be very expensive. Unless an individual has insurance that will cover this type of rehab, a person and/or their family will have to come up with the money on their own.

Another disadvantage is that if a person chooses to go the inpatient route, they will have to leave their family, friends and job, if they have one. This can be challenging at best and impractical or impossible at worse. Some people may not feel like they can separate from the people that they love. Others will not be able to afford to leave their jobs or may not be able to get time off.

Now, that we have covered some of the cons of inpatient rehabilitation, let’s take a look at the positives.

Intensive care: Inpatient rehab programs offer intensive care and treatment. These types of facilities may provide counseling, drug and nutrition education, detoxification and various classes. Their around-the-clock care and supervision is much more intensive then outpatient programs.

Around-the-clock treatment and support: Some addicts will need 24 hour care and supervision. They can not stay clean unless they have someone monitoring them around-the-clock. Now obviously this won’t always be the case. Most people are able to finish their stay in an inpatient facility within 6 months. Some people will stay longer and others for shorter amounts of time. It will depend on their individual progress.

The ability to get away from negative influences: Inpatient programs are a great way to get away from influences that may entice addicts to start using again. There are many instances where people need to simply get away from their surroundings if they are going to have a chance at getting clean. After a person has built up some fortitude and some coping skills, they may become strong enough to stay away from the surroundings and people who influence them negatively.

Finding the best drug rehab for your self will be paramount to your recovery. It is important to find the right fit. If you not, it will be difficult to stick to a program. Until you do find a great drug rehab program you will likely spend money and burn time that you may or may not have. Now, in all fairness, the process of finding a rehab program that works often includes a bit of trial and error and sometimes it takes time. The important thing is to not get frustrated but to realize that this is pretty normal.

However, there will some cases where speedy care is paramount. Some people do not have time to waste. Delay can mean a matter of life or death. Therefore, it is important to as quickly as possible find a program that is ideal for you. Below, we will take a look at how to go about finding the best drug rehab facility for your needs..

Contact local facilities: One of the first places that you should look when searching for treatment facilities is locally. This may be easier if you live in a metropolitan area. Being close to home has both its’ advantages and disadvantages. If you decide to go the outpatient route, you will be able stay near family members and friends. This can be a good or bad thing. If those close to you use drugs as well, then this can make your recovery difficult and will not be a good choice. Your local phone book is a good place to find local rehab centers.

Look online: The internet can be a really great place to locate rehab facilities near your home and far away. Getting away may be the best chance that you have to get clean. You may also find some really good treatment facilities that are not in your area. You can learn a good deal about them on the computer.

Try to get a referral: If at all possible try to get a referral from someone who has had a good experience. Individuals that have gone though the process and entered rehab may be able to tell you which facilities are good ones and which ones were not. A referral can be invaluable.

Research available therapies: Before you make a final decision, if at all possible, research available therapies. Find out how addictions are being treated. There will be a number of different ways. Try to find one that you feel gives you the best chance of getting clean and then look for a drug rehab that uses that particular method.

Finding the right rehab for yourself will have a major impact on your progress, the ability to finish a program and get clean. It is very important to find a good program as soon as possible. To accomplish this first look locally. Find out what good facilities exist in your area. Next, look online. The internet can be a great resource. Referrals are great if you can get them. An addict that has successfully completed rehab can help point you in the right direction and lastly, if you are at a point in your life where you can, research available therapies. Then find a drug abuse rehabilitation program that offers the type of therapy that you feel would allow you to be most successful.

Inpatient facilities allow persons to stay overnight in the facility. A patient will generally stay until they are able to stop using. The specific amount of time will obviously differ from person to person. Some individuals will not need much time while others will need to stay for several months.

Inpatient rehabilitation will give the patient a good deal of structure. They will have a schedule that must be adhered to. The staff will do their best to ensure that no one uses drug while in the facility. This might involve patients taking periodic drug tests. Intensive counseling is also nearly always provided. A patient will eat and sleep at the treatment center and their contact with the outside world may be limited.

The advantages are that this type of arrangement allows an individual to get away from untoward influences, gives them a change to sober up and for their body to go through detoxification. The detoxification process is a very difficult one and having trained staff around to deal with it and ensure that a person does not drink or take drugs to avoid the symptoms can be very important and will make a big difference in whether or not someone will be able to even start the recovery process.

One of the primary disadvantages of this sort of rehab is the cost. The price can be prohibitive for some people. This is especially true if they don’t have insurance to cover the cost of their stay, no job or can’t find a subsidized or free inpatient program. Another negative is that inpatient rehab requires that a person leave their family and friends behind for a period. This can be quite distressing. If a person has a job, they run the risk of losing it if they have to be away for a long period of time.
