Making sure that your loved one finds drug rehab if they need it is one of the best things that you can do to help them. Getting adequate and timely help can mean the difference between them surviving their addiction and recovering and them not. Convincing someone who is addicted to drugs that they need to enter a rehabilitation facility or get some type of outpatient assistance can be an uphill battle. If an addict is not ready to admit that they have a problem and want to do something about it, then it can be difficult to make sure that they get help.

Finding the “right” drug rehab help for a loved one will be extremely important. This is because a one-sized-fits-all approach to getting clean will not always be effective. People are different, use for varying reasons, have different temperaments and personalities. All of these things must be taken into consideration if a person is going to be able to be helped through a drug rehabilitation program. Below, we are going to take a look at how to choose a drug rehab facility so that your loved one has the best chance of getting effective help.

Determine if they need to be close to home or get away: A judgment call will need to be made early on. Sometimes people are surrounded by temptations to use, i.e., family members and friends who also use, and need to get away in order to have a real chance at recovery.

Find a program that seems to “vibe” with their personality or needs: If it is at all possible, when you are trying to find a facility for someone, look for one that seems to reflect who they are. For example, if your loved one loves the beach and finds it therapeutic, if it is possible, try to find a rehab center close to the beach.

On the other hand, if they lack structure, but need it, try to find a facility that will provide it for them. They may not initially like it, but hopefully they will respond.

If they a need intensive program try too find one: If an individual needs an intensive, structured, strict, inpatient program, try to find one for them.

Find something that is affordable: Find something that the addict or those people willing to support them, can afford. If you or they can’t afford it, don’t even consider a celebrity type of facility. It will be a waste of time. Instead, there are free and subsidized programs for individuals that can not afford to pay much money. Check those out if that is all that your budget allows. Some of them provide very good and effective care.

Make sure that they are ready: Now, if your family member or friend’s life hangs in the balance, you will want to try to convince them as much as possible to get help even if it involves an overnight or short-term stay to get them out of harms way. It is best to wait until they either exress an interest in getting clean or are unable to function of their own. They are generally more likely to respond to your efforts to help them into recovery.

Most people are familiar with luxury drug rehab centers, though perhaps not from actual experience. Most likely this familiarity was developed by watching the news or entertainment-based television. These channels seem to report on these types of facilities with fervor with regularity, especially when a well known public figure enters one. Some of most people’s favorite celebrities have spent time in a luxury drug rehab facility or two. Instead of your typical facility, they often sound more like posh, country clubs then treatment centers. It is difficult not to compare them to the low cost drug rehab center that the average person is used to. In this article, we will do just that. We will take a look at some of the primary differences between luxury and your run-of-the mill, low cost drug rehab centers.

Luxury drug rehab centers:

These are often characterized by posh surroundings and services. Typically, they are located in beautiful, scenic areas. This might be near the mountains, on the beach or in the desert (Arizona is pretty popular). Not only are the surroundings to be envied, the facilities are often as well. People pay big money and want to feel like they or their loved one is getting their money’s worth. The service at these rehab centers is often first rate. There might be a chef who prepares the patient’s personal favorites, an on-demand masseuse, access to a swimming pool and work out facilities. Generally, anything that a wealthy person may expect to receive at a first class resort will be made available to them at a luxury drug rehab.

Besides the extras, there may be few differences in terms of actual treatment. Many of these centers use some of the same recovery ideologies as some of your lower cost facilities. The primary difference is the type of services and amenities available to them. Of course, this is not always the case but it is often.

Even with all of the perks, an individual that goes to rehab in a luxury rehab center does not necessarily have a better chance of getting clean then someone who goes to an average-cost facility. Celebrities and wealthy persons that go to upscale recovery treatment facilities relapse and require multiple stays just like those who can not afford to enter such programs. Fancy meals and massages won’t magically cure addictions. It can make the process more comfortable but ultimately, what will get a person clean is the work that they put into their recovery.

Low Cost Rehab

A low cost rehab facility will offer the basics. Individuals will be put on a program that the particular rehab the have enrolled in, believes works. There may not be any fancy meals, likely no on-demand massages amd/or swimming pool. Because of this, an individual’s stay will be much less expensive. This type of treatment is what most people will be able to afford. Though it doesn’t sound nearly as exciting and won’t be as posh as a luxury rehab facility, the chances of recovery can be just as high. If a person is enrolled in high quality facility with a proven methodology, then they have the same chance at getting off of drugs. Though high-end amenities and services are undoubtedly nice, they don’t guarantee that a person will get clean.

Long term drug rehab facilities are available for persons who need intensive treatment. These individuals typically can not helped by short term or outpatient programs. The amount of time that a person can stay in a long-term facility will differ based on the particular rehab center. Some allow persons to stay as long as they want, while others will set time limits.

The treatment process in these centers will vary. However, a typical one may look something like this. The facility may provide detoxification for new patients who need it. This would involve helping individuals get rid of the drugs in their system. This will allow them to focus on the mental, psychological and perhaps spiritual aspects of rehabilitation. This can be very difficult if a person is still having cravings and withdrawal symptoms related to residual drugs in their system.

Next, the program will start implementing the program they have designed specifically for that patient. This will take into account their personal history, the type of drugs they have been using and how long they will in the program. Classes and counseling will likely begin.

The point of long term rehab is to help individuals repair relationships with family and friends when and if possible. The goal is also to help an individual become a functional member of society and ultimately, drug free. To achieve this, an addict will need to participate in counseling, which is provided in these types settings and take relevant classes. Helping an individual figure out why they started using drugs in the first place, allows them to deal and work through whatever issues they have.

The length of time that a person can stay in a long term facility will vary. Some will allow them to stay as long as it takes to get off of drugs. Even though some programs are open-ended, many people are able to complete a stint somewhere between 3 and 6 months. How long a person stays will be dependent on a lot of factors. Some of those include how long their insurance (if they have any) will cover their stay, cost, the length of time they can take off from work, and the amount of time it requires for them to get clean.

Long term drug rehab is for addicts that need a lot of help and support getting off of drugs. A short time drug rehabilitation treatment or outpatient therapy just won’t do. These individuals need around-the-clock support and a structured, ongoing program in order to get satisfactory results. Many people in these types of facilities are able to get through a program in 3-6 months, while others take much longer.

This form of drug rehab help can be a very effective option for those that need intensive help. Generally, time isn’t an issue for persons that decide to go this route. They understand that time isn’t really the matter but recovery and they are prepared to go the distance. Long term drug detox rehab facilities are set-up for these individuals and will have programs in place to give them the tools they need to become drug free.

Finding the best drug rehab for your self will be paramount to your recovery. It is important to find the right fit. If you not, it will be difficult to stick to a program. Until you do find a great drug rehab program you will likely spend money and burn time that you may or may not have. Now, in all fairness, the process of finding a rehab program that works often includes a bit of trial and error and sometimes it takes time. The important thing is to not get frustrated but to realize that this is pretty normal.

However, there will some cases where speedy care is paramount. Some people do not have time to waste. Delay can mean a matter of life or death. Therefore, it is important to as quickly as possible find a program that is ideal for you. Below, we will take a look at how to go about finding the best drug rehab facility for your needs..

Contact local facilities: One of the first places that you should look when searching for treatment facilities is locally. This may be easier if you live in a metropolitan area. Being close to home has both its’ advantages and disadvantages. If you decide to go the outpatient route, you will be able stay near family members and friends. This can be a good or bad thing. If those close to you use drugs as well, then this can make your recovery difficult and will not be a good choice. Your local phone book is a good place to find local rehab centers.

Look online: The internet can be a really great place to locate rehab facilities near your home and far away. Getting away may be the best chance that you have to get clean. You may also find some really good treatment facilities that are not in your area. You can learn a good deal about them on the computer.

Try to get a referral: If at all possible try to get a referral from someone who has had a good experience. Individuals that have gone though the process and entered rehab may be able to tell you which facilities are good ones and which ones were not. A referral can be invaluable.

Research available therapies: Before you make a final decision, if at all possible, research available therapies. Find out how addictions are being treated. There will be a number of different ways. Try to find one that you feel gives you the best chance of getting clean and then look for a drug rehab that uses that particular method.

Finding the right rehab for yourself will have a major impact on your progress, the ability to finish a program and get clean. It is very important to find a good program as soon as possible. To accomplish this first look locally. Find out what good facilities exist in your area. Next, look online. The internet can be a great resource. Referrals are great if you can get them. An addict that has successfully completed rehab can help point you in the right direction and lastly, if you are at a point in your life where you can, research available therapies. Then find a drug abuse rehabilitation program that offers the type of therapy that you feel would allow you to be most successful.

Choosing the right drug and alcohol rehabilitation center is paramount to one’s success. A bad facility can become a hurdle in an addict’s recovery instead of a stepping stone to getting clean. Therefore, it is incredibly important that you, as an addict, take special care to choose an excellent drug and alcohol rehabilitation. This also holds true for the loved ones of an addict as well. There will be times when these individuals will be responsible for getting an addict into treatment and choosing the facility.

This may take some time. However the effort is worth it. Here are some things to look for. Always take a careful look at a center’s reputation, the education and training of their staff, treatment philosophy and cost. To help you make the very best decision, we will take a look at what drug and rehabilitation centers to avoid. We hope that this information will be beneficial and help you stay away from facilities that will thwart the progress of you or the loved one in your life who is addicted to drugs.

a. Newcomers: While a new drug and alcohol rehabilitation center might have a high quality program, because they haven’t been around long enough it will be difficult to determine this. Unless your options are severely limited, it is generally best to go with a program that has some history and has proven itself a bit. This increases the likelihood of you having a good experience.

b. Those with a bad reputation: Absolutely stay away from rehab facilities that have a bad reputation. Sure, it could be a case of some disgruntled patients. However, if you keep hearing that particular center or treatment facility is bad news, it is best to go elsewhere for help. You will not want to chance your recovery on a center that is ill reputed.

c. Those with no clear cut philosophy: A good facility will have a clear-cut philosophy for treatment. This doesn’t mean that everyone will be on the exact same program. Typically, a rehab center will find out what a particular patient needs and attempt to meet those. However, there will generally be a primary philosophy or program that they use. If a rehab can not tell you how they plan to assist you, then they are not a good option.

d. Rehab centers that have unclear policies on how one is charged: Some rehab centers will charge a flat fee. How long you stay enrolled in a program will not make a difference. They may allow you to continue as a patient until you are able to go clean. Every facility won’t work this way. Some will bill you as long as you are a patient. You ultimately need to decide which will work best for you.

Problems can occur when the rehab facility is not clear on how they charge patients. This can cause big problems down the line. To avoid this, figure out how much you will be charged and for what.

e. Those with poorly trained counselors: Poorly trained counselors can thwart your progress in rehab. It is very important to find a well trained, experienced counselor to work with. They can make a very difficult process a bit easier. Ask about the counselors’ training, experience and education before you choose a rehab center.

Privacy can be difficult to come for a celebrity. The general public is often interested in what is going on in their lives at all times. This is why celebrity featured magazines are so popular and sell so well. It seems that the public has an insatiable appetite for these figures that often seems to border on obsession.

While this can be beneficial to famous people as it can help them promote their movies, television programs or whatever they are attempting to sell at the moment. It also has a very dark side. They essentially have no privacy even when it should be warranted. Celebrities are human beings that have issues and problems that they have to deal with. Unfortunately, they often have to handle them in public, which can very embarrassing. For a celebrity that is hooked on drugs, getting help will be absolutely necessary if they want to be able to get clean, just like it is for the average person. The problem is it will be more difficult for them to do so privately.

Besides privacy from the public, privacy in a facility can also be difficult. If a person who is famous goes to a regular, run-of-the-mill drug rehabilitation treatment center, they will likely be bombarded with questions, stares and request for autographs. This would make it difficult for them to get the treatment that they need. To help remedy many of these issues, most famous people go to celebrity drug rehabs.

These are designed especially for famous persons. Typically, these facilities will go over and beyond the call of duty to keep the privacy of the patients in their care intact. They will attempt to protect their identity as much as they can.

Many famous persons have had to check into drug rehab. Well-known names include Whitney Houston, Robin Williams, Lindsey Lohan, Britney Spears and Elton John, to name a few. Generally celebrity drug rehab will be much more expensive then one for regular persons. They will also have a much better accommodations and amenities. Typically, they can expect to stay at a facility that is incredibly beautiful, posh and that has top-notch service. Most celebrities receive the same treatment at rehab that they would at a 5-star resort.

While most of the non-essentials will be of much higher quality then those offered at a low cost drug rehab facility, counseling and actual treatment for the drug addiction may or may not be better than what a person may receive in a regular, public and/or low-cost facility. This is because the drug counselor who works in a regular drug rehab might just as good, skilled, knowledgeable and effective as one that works in a celebrity drug rehab center.

Success is not guaranteed just because a person enrolls in a celebrity drug rehab center. A lot of it will be dependent on a person’s readiness to get off drugs and what they are willing to do to make that happen. A celebrity drug rehab will be very expensive and can be tens of thousand of dollars each month, making them obviously out of reach financially for most people.
